The Sleep Number ComfortFit Classic pillow features highly in our guide to the best pillows, and is the ideal choice for back sleepers. While it comes in two other versions – the ComfortFit Curved, for back sleepers, and the ComfortFit Ultimate, for all sleeping positions – here we are focusing on the Classic edition.
The ComfortFit Classic has been created to gently support your head and neck during sleep, making it a ideal for those of who you flip between sleeping on your back to sleeping on your stomach. While SleepNumber hasn't designed it for side sleepers as such, those on our testing panel who do sleep on their sides also raved about the ComfortFit Classic.

SleepNumber ComfortFit Classic review: design
The inside of this Sleep Number pillow is filled with a mixture of shredded memory foam and microfibers that stick together tightly so that you can’t feel any lumps and the pieces don’t shift while you sleep.
This also gives you a bit more softness compared to a single piece of foam, and it’s more breathable too, so you won’t get hot at night. It’s also hypoallergenic, which is good for allergy sufferers. Our testers described feeling their head sink into this plush pillow but still having firm support so that their heads were perfectly cradled as they fell asleep.
SleepNumber ComfortFit Classic review: price
The Sleep Number ComfortFit pillow comes in two sizes: standard and king. The cost of the Classic standard size is $89.99 RRP, while the king size costs $109.99. That may be a little pricey on the surface, but considering how important a pillow is to your quality of sleep, we think this one is worth the investment.
You also get a one-year limited warranty, just in case something goes wrong. Sleep Number will also give you 30 days to try out your new pillow and decide if you want to keep it. This isn’t as generous as most other pillows we tested, as some others, such as the Casper Pillow, come with at least a 100-night trial.
SleepNumber ComfortFit Classic review: verdict
One drawback to the ComfortFit Classic pillow is that it isn’t machine washable – not even the cover. SleepNumber recommends spot cleaning the pillow if needed, but we like being able to wash our bed pillows regularly.
That said, the ComfortFit Classic was a favorite among our testers, with both back and side sleepers in our panel finding it to be very comfortable, with a lot of cushion and give, but also the perfect amount of support for neck, back and shoulders. Even after three months of sleeping on it, we still only hear positive reports about the Sleep Number ComfortFit Classic pillow. And with a 30-day 'love or exchange it' guarantee from SleepNumber, what do you have to lose?
