Maintaining any computer’s health over the course of its life can be time-consuming and stressful. However, with IOBit’s Driver Booster, you can keep your computer running in its optimal state. The program scans your computer’s drivers and updates them automatically as needed from a database of over 3,000,000 drivers and game components. It can even identify missing drivers and ones that are up to date but faulty. This driver update software is easy to use and has several customization options, giving you more control over your computer.

Driver Booster’s scan found 91 of the 149 outdated drivers we installed on our test computer – a success rate of 61 percent. It was the best performing software in our tests, but 61 percent is still quite low, even considering the industry’s poor performance as a whole. However, it fared much better than Advanced Driver Updater, which only found 48 drivers – a scant 32-percent success rate.

The only real downside to the program is it doesn’t guarantee its driver downloads to be from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). On its website, the developer claims that the drivers have passed Microsoft WHQL tests and IOBit Review tests but doesn’t provide any context as to what those are. In our research, we learned that minimal testing is required to receive Microsoft WHQL certification. Although this isn’t as good as using drivers from an OEM source, it’s at least something. Using OEM driver sources means the driver updates are created by the hardware manufacturer and are designed to be a perfect match.

Driver Booster’s special exclusion feature allows you to choose which specific drivers receive attention. So, you can opt to update all your out-of-date drivers or just one or two of them. It also lets you choose to remove extra installation data once you’ve installed the update to help keep your hard drive free from clutter.

This driver software takes only moments to download and install on your machine. It is quite intuitive thanks to its slick, modern interface. Buttons and tabs are clearly labeled, making the program easy to navigate. Driver Booster is also easy to use thanks to its one-click scan and automatic updates. The software lets you schedule scans, and it can also backup and restore your drivers. The software is compatible with all recent versions of Windows, from XP up to 10, and it takes up only 19.3MB of space on your computer’s hard drive.
